Kamala Harris promised amnesty to millions of illegals at a campaign event for Latinos this week.
Speaking at a town-hall hosted by Univision, the Vice President said that she will make it one of the priorities of her presidency to have a “comprehensive” law that allows migrants to become American citizens quickly.
“So my pledge to you is that, by the grace of God and hopefully with your support as well, when I am elected president, I will bring back that border-security bill, and I will sign it into law and do the work of focusing on what we must do to have an orderly and humane pathway to earn citizenship.
“And one of the big problems with failure to have a comprehensive immigration [law] is that we have not given them the pathway to earn their right to citizenship. That is one of the priorities for me, frankly, in terms of my motivation for what I know we must do. I think it should compel us to agree they should not have to live in fear, but should have an ability to be on a pathway to earn their citizenship. So it is one of my priorities.”

Harris was referring to the 2024 border-security bill, which would have offered fast-track asylum to millions of immigrants.
Polling shows that Latinos in the US increasingly support tougher, not looser, measures on migration.
An April 2024 Axios-Ipsos poll, for example, reported that 38% of Latinos in the US support deporting illegal aliens, up 10% since President Biden took office. Over 40% support building a wall at the border and 64% support allowing the president to close the border fully if migrants are “invading” the nation.
The Univision event was also notable for the fact that Harris was reading pre-written answers from a teleprompter, rather than speaking extempore.
