Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee led a hearing Monday to address the skyrocketing violent crime plaguing New York City thanks to Democrat soft-on-crime policies.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) convened the hearing on “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan” at the Jacob Javits Federal Building in Manhattan, with Democrats calling the event a political stunt.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) blasted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for focusing on political endeavors like prosecuting former President Donald Trump on a process crime rather than tackling real violent crime in the city.

Rep. Jordan likewise highlighted the political tone-deafness of the Democrats for ignoring the violent crime before several New Yorkers testified as witnesses to the crime spree.

House Democrats of course dismissed the hearing as a political “charade” and a “production” for Republicans to use against them, but New Yorkers shut them down.

“Don’t insult my intelligence,” a black woman whose Army vet son was killed in NYC told Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-N.Y.). “This is why I walked away from the plantation of the Democratic Party.”

“The only people I hear talking about politics or President Trump is from the other side,” she noted.

“We don’t care…about your statistics. You cannot convince us to not believe our lying eyes with your numbers because we see it with our very eyes day in and day out,” she added.

One man in the audience called Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) a “scumbag.”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) pointed out how Democrat colleagues even admitted that New York City is being terrorized by violent criminals.

Paul DiGiacomo, president of the New York City’s Detectives’ Endowment Association, blamed the DA for refusing to enforce the law in NYC.

“Two young men were executed in…Manhattan. And I strongly believe it was because of the memos put out by the DA’s Office that they were not going to enforce assaults on police officers.”

One witness named Jose Alba, a NYC bodega clerk, lambasted DA Bragg for charging him after stabbing a man in self-defense thanks to backwards Democrat policies.

“I believe that law enforcement and the DA’s office didn’t investigate the case fully. They rushed to judgement and I suffered because of it,” he said.

Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Mike Johnson (R-La.) also weighed in on the out-of-control crime.
