Actor Jamie Foxx addressed his unspecified illness for the first time since he was hospitalized in April.
Without detailing his medical affliction, Foxx in an emotional video posted to Instagram on Friday claimed he went to “hell and back” and didn’t want fans to see his fragile state during recovery.
“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” Foxx said in the video.
“I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show,” he continued. “I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
“But I did go to hell and back,” he said. “My road to recovery had some potholes as well but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”
Foxx also thanked his family for keeping silent on the details of his medical condition.
“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way,” he said. “And y’all know they kept it air tight. They didn’t let nothing out. They protected me. And that’s what I hope that everyone can have in moments like these.”
“I just want to say that I love everybody, and I love all the love that I got,” he concluded. “I am on my way back.”
The Django Unchained actor was hospitalized in April due to what his daughter called a “medical complication.”
Hollywood journalist A.J Benza in May claimed a source told him he suffered a blood clot in his brain that left him partially “paralyzed and blind” as a result of taking the experimental COVID vaccine.

Reports emerged in June that Foxx was learning to walk again at a physical therapy clinic in Chicago.
Conspiracy theories began circulating in recent weeks as Foxx was allegedly spotted in public claiming the Collateral actor was actually a body double, with questions mounting as to why he hadn’t issued a more personal address to his fans concerning the state of his health.
Weeks after his brief public appearances, it seems he finally has.
