Federal authorities have apprehended yet another illegal alien who was on the loose on Nantucket Island after being charged with nearly a dozen heinous sex crimes against children.
On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the recent arrest of 49-year-old Elmer Sola, a citizen of El Salvador who is illegally present in the U.S.
Sola slipped into the U.S. at an unknown location and date, indicating he is one of countless ‘unknown gotaways’ lurking throughout the country.
“The Nantucket Superior Court arraigned Sola Aug. 14 on three counts of aggravated rape of child and eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14,” ICE explained in a press release.
For reasons that remain unclear, Sola has apparently been free to roam since he was charged.
Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) agents from the Boston office captured Sola on Nantucket on Sept. 10 and he remains in ICE custody.
“Elmer Sola unlawfully entered the United States, then made his way into our Nantucket community before allegedly committing some horrific and despicable crimes against a child,” ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons said in a statement.

Sola was at least the third illegal alien facing sex crimes charges apprehended on Nantucket Island by ICE during a two-day period this month.
On Sept. 10, ICE caught Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo, a 28-year-old Salvadoran ‘gotaway’ who was charged with one count of rape of a child with a 10-year age difference and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
On Sept. 11, ERO Boston agents arrested Brazilian national Gean Do Amaral Belafronte.
Belafronte, another ‘gotaway’ who entered the U.S. undetected, was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or older.
In 2021, Belafronte allegedly grabbed a female victim, pinned her to the ground, and said, “I will rape you,” as he licked her face.
Both men were on the loose after being released on bail by Nantucket District Court.
Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S., many of whom have been previously released into the country by law enforcement agencies.
