An illegal alien from Ecuador who has been convicted of various crimes, including sexual assault and illegal reentry, has been apprehended by federal authorities yet again.
On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of the Ecuadorian criminal this week at Otisville Federal Correctional Facility in New York.
The Ecuadorian, whose name and age have been withheld, was first caught entering the U.S. illegally in 2010 near Naco, Arizona.
He was charged with violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, issued a notice to appear, and released into the interior.
“On Aug. 7, 2012, the Rockland County Court convicted the noncitizen of burglary in the third degree and sentenced him to one year incarceration. He was convicted of sexual abuse in the second degree Aug. 7, 2012, and sentenced to one year of imprisonment,” ICE explained in a press release.
A judge later ordered the Ecuadorian removed from the U.S. and he was deported during the first days of 2013.
The Ecuadorian reentered the U.S. at an unknown date and location but was removed again in 2018.
U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) caught the Ecuadorian after illegally reentering the U.S. yet again on April 8, 2019, near Brownsville, Texas.
He was convicted of illegal reentry in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act on Sept. 26, 2019, and finally deported for the third time on April 9, 2021.
On May 17, 2022, the Ecuadorian was apprehended in the U.S. after a fourth illegal entry near El Paso, Texas.
On Nov. 7, 2022, he was again convicted of violating the Immigration and Nationality Act and sentenced to 30 months in prison.
The Ecuadorian is currently being held in ICE custody pending yet another removal.
“This arrest shows ERO New York City is committed to apprehending predators who commit horrific acts of violence against members of our community,” ICE ERO New York City Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo said in a statement.
Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S., many of whom have been previously released into the country by law enforcement agencies.
