A Nigerian worker was stabbed by a male suspect from Iraq during a random attack at a train station in Germany this week, according to authorities.

The disturbing incident unfolded at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Munich.

The victim, a 57-year-old male, was cleaning a platform at Munich Central Station when a man plunged a knife into his back.

The suspect then walked to a nearby federal police station and pounded on the door.

The wounded man yelled to warn officers that the man at the door was armed as they stepped on to the platform.

“They asked the 38-year-old Iraqi, gun drawn and pointed to the ground, to lie down and put the knife away. The man immediately complied with this request, whereupon the officers bound him up and took him to the police station,” Munich police explained in a press release.

The injured cleaner suffered “superficial injuries” that did not require hospitalization.
