Former FBI Director Jim Comey, who’s had a tumultuous relationship with Donald Trump, cheered news of the former president’s indictment.
In a post Thursday evening, the scorned Deep State swamp creature who was fired by President Trump in May 2017 snidely tweeted, “It’s been a good day,” presumably in reference to his political foe’s bad news.
The Obama-appointed former FBI director’s tweet was all the more notable as he’s an infrequent Twitter user and hadn’t posted in over three weeks.
The high-level Deep State intel operative’s schadenfreude-laden remark relishing Trump’s charges come as a Manhattan grand jury, in an unprecedented move, decided to indict the former president allegedly over supposed “hush money” paid to former porn star Stormy Daniels.
Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017, with the White House initially citing his mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. The FBI director in July 2016, just months before the presidential election and despite the seriousness of Clinton’s crimes, had announced the Bureau would recommend no charges against the Democrat presidential candidate.
However, Trump later suggested to NBC News he’d fired Comey over “this Russia thing,” leading to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, whose own investigation into Trump-Russia collusion was unfruitful.
Comey’s jubilation brings to mind Democrat Senate Majority Chuck Schumer’s (NY) 2017 warning to Trump that messing with the intelligence community was a “really dumb” idea.
“Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow in 2017 after Trump criticized intelligence officials who claimed Russians attempted to interfere in the 2016 election.
Schumer himself also appeared to celebrate the former president’s indictment, issuing a statement Thursday saying, “Mr. Trump is subject to the same laws as every American.”
With these establishment figures salivating at the fanciful prospect of Trump’s incarceration, it’s difficult to believe the former president’s persecution is anything but Deep State payback and political sabotage for him making a mockery of them on the world stage.
