J6 Political Prisoner Joe Biggs Receives 17-Year Sentence in Jan. 6 Case

Proud Boys member and decorated Army veteran Staff Sgt. Joe Biggs was sentenced to 17 years in prison Thursday for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot.

Biggs, a former Infowars reporter whose “crimes” on Jan. 6 amount to little more than walking inside the US Capitol building while police held doors open, was found guilty in May for supposedly plotting to prevent the lawful transfer of presidential power and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.

The 17-year punishment is significantly shorter than the 33-year term sought by prosecutors, and thus far represents one of the lengthiest sentences given to Jan. 6 protesters, following Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes’ 18-year penalty.

During sentencing, Biggs – who served several tours of duty for the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan – argued he’d been “seduced by the crowd,” and that he was “not a terrorist.”

“I am not a terrorist,” he reportedly told the court. “I know I have to be punished, but at least give me the opportunity to take my daughter to school one day.”

Leftist journalist Brandi Buchman documented Biggs’ pleas for leniency Thursday.

Despite his pleas, US District Court Judge Timothy Kelly approved federal prosecutors’ recommendations to apply enhancements to Biggs’ offenses, classifying them as acts of terrorism.

The sentencing comes as Biggs, who received a Purple Heart after being injured in combat, last month reported he’d been stripped of his honorable military service status.

Prosecutors are looking to secure similar aggressive sentences for other Proud Boys, including Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and leader Enrique Tarrio, despite his absence at the Capitol that fateful day.
