Former Secretary of State John Kerry lamented that the First Amendment is making it difficult to fight back against “disinformation” and therefore “govern” the American people.
During a World Economic Forum “Sustainable Development Impact Meeting” on Friday, Kerry explained how people are looking to independent sources of information after losing trust in the mainstream media which had previously served as the establishment’s gatekeepers of information.
“It’s really hard to govern today. The referees we used to have to determine what’s a fact and what isn’t a fact has been eviscerated to a certain degree,” Kerry said. “And then people go and they self-select where they go for their news and for their information, and then you just get into a vicious cycle.”
"Our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to hammer [disinformation] out of existence. What we need is to win…the right to govern by hopefully winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change."

“And there’s a lot of discussion now about how you curb those entities in order to guarantee that you’re going to have some accountability on facts.”
“But look, if people go to one only source and the source they go to is sick, and you know, has an agenda and they’re putting out disinformation, our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to hammer [disinformation] out of existence,” he continued.
“What we need is to win the ground, win the right to govern by hopefully winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change.”
In typical veiled politick language, Kerry went on to claim that “democracies” are not capable of tamping down unapproved information sources, and that the outcome of the upcoming US election will in part determine if whether the government will continue to impose censorship or not.
“I think democracies are very challenged right now and have not proven they can move fast enough or big enough to deal with the challenges that we are facing. And to me, that’s part of what this election is all about: Will we break the fever in the United States,” Kerry said.
Former President Donald Trump earlier this month stated his commitment to protecting the free speech of Americans during a Wisconsin rally, saying, “I will sign an executive order banning any federal employee from colluding to limit speech, and we will fire every federal bureaucrat who is engaged in domestic censorship under the Harris regime.”

Meanwhile, the UN recently published a wide-ranging “Pact for the Future” outlining proposals that will enshrine global digital ID and online censorship and give the United Nations (U.N.) secretary-general unprecedented emergency powers, a mechanism that a Harris presidency would all too eagerly codify.
As Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) noted, the entire point of the First Amendment is to prevent bureaucrats like Kerry from determining what people are allowed to say or think.
John Kerry and other elite democrats hate the Constitution. They see it as a road block to ruling over people. As a matter of fact, that is why it was written. https://t.co/UJBxUKLvBa
