A federal judge has ordered conservative firebrand Stephen Bannon, a former top advisor to ex-President Donald Trump, to begin his prison term starting on July 1.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, who was appointed by Trump, mandated Bannon to report to prison for four months for defying a congressional subpoena to testify before the Jan. 6 Select Committee.
Nichols had previously stayed Bannon’s prison term while he appealed his conviction, however, “on Thursday, Nichols ruled that the original reasons for the postponement no longer apply because a D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled strongly and unanimously last month against Bannon’s position,” Politico reports.
Judge Nichols reportedly stated, “I do not believe that the original basis for my stay of Mr. Bannon’s sentence exists anymore.”
Bannon will continue appealing the case to the DC Circuit and Supreme Courts.
“However, unless one of those courts intervenes to block Judge Nichols’ decision, Bannon will likely have to go to prison soon,” according to Politico.
Speaking to reporters following sentencing, Bannon decried the order as more judicial lawfare by the Biden administration against top-level MAGA influencers.

“I’ve got great lawyers and we’re going to go all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to, but I want to say something specifically about the Justice Department: Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, the entire Justice Dept. They’re not going to shut up Trump. They’re not going to shut up [Peter] Navarro. They’re not going to shut up Bannon. And they’re certainly not going to shut up MAGA,” Bannon declared.
“All of this is… about one thing this is about shutting down the MAGA movement, shutting down grassroots conservatives, shutting down President Trump.”
“Not only are we winning, but we are going to prevail, and every poll shows that.”
Conservatives on social media called out the two-tiered justice system, pointing out Bannon was prosecuted for defying a congressional subpoena, while Joe Biden’s son Hunter faced no repercussions.

Hunter Biden should’ve been held in contempt of Congress and sentenced to jail like Steve Bannon…
