A fake image of Kamala Harris dressed in a McDonald’s uniform is being spread by her supporters in an effort to prove she really did work at the iconic fast-food chain.
The image being shared was originally a picture of a woman called Suzanne Bernier, who died of cancer in 2007.
“Case closed. Now the cult can rest,” said a Twitter user who posted the doctored image.
There were harsh words in response to the revelation that the image is a doctored picture of a dead woman.
“May Suzanne Bernier rest in peace. Her identity and memory were disrespected and stolen by the most abhorrently unqualified and dishonorable politician in human history,” Tweeted one user.
Kamala Harris has claimed on multiple occasions that she worked at a McDonald’s restaurant in Almeda, California. The claim, for which the Vice President has provided no substantiating evidence, led former president Donald Trump to tackle a shift at a McDonald’s restaurant himself this week, including working on the fries and at the drive-through window.
“Now I have worked here. I’ve worked here for 15 minutes more than Kamala. She’s never worked here… Why would she lie?” Trump said.
“McDonald’s confirmed that she’s never worked here. But let’s not talk about that. It’s an amazing business and an amazing country.”
Prior to his visit, Trump posted on Truth Social: “We have checked with McDonald’s, and they say, definitively, that there is no record of Lyin’ Kamala Harris ever having worked there. In other words, she never worked there, and has lied about this ‘job’ for years.”
McDonald’s has attempted to avoid controversy, issuing a carefully worded statement that avoids debunking the Vice President’s claims. “Though we are not a political brand, we’ve been proud to hear former President Trump’s love for McDonald’s and Vice President Harris’s fond memories working under the Arches. While we and our franchisees don’t have records for all positions dating back to the early ‘80s, what makes ‘1 in 8’ so powerful is the shared experience so many Americans have had.”
