In what may be deemed a ‘going-away gift’, outgoing lame-duck President Joe Biden’s administration will be surging weapons deliveries to Ukraine before the peace-centric administration of Donald Trump comes to power.
“We are going to do everything in our power for these 50 days to get Ukraine all the tools we possibly can to strengthen their position on the battlefield so that they’ll be stronger at the negotiating table,” National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told ABC News on Sunday, according to MSN. “And President Biden directed me to oversee a massive surge in the military equipment that we are delivering to Ukraine so that we have spent every dollar that Congress has appropriated to us by the time that President Biden leaves office.”
Trump is set to propose a permanent ceasefire in Ukraine and deescalate the conflict.
Interestingly, Sullivan’s comments suggested that the weapons deliveries are to make Ukraine as strong as possible before negotiations with Russia.
Ukrainian ruler Vladimir Zelensky reportedly now believes his government is too weak to retake territory, yet according to RT, the former actor dismissed the idea of giving up contested territory in the East to Russia. Other reports suggest that Zelensky will relinquish the land.

While Ukraine will be receiving a ‘massive surge’ of arms, it is unlikely that nuclear weapons will be on the menu, something that was previously being considered.
