Extraordinary video from Lansing, Michigan, shows thousands of teenagers march on the state capitol Saturday demanding a return to normalcy after nearly a year of prolonged COVID lockdowns.
The massive crowd of students particularly wanted to resume playing high school sports again, chanting to state lawmakers from outside the capitol, “Let us play!”
The “Let Them Play” rally, which amassed a crowd of 2 to 3,000, was organized by Coopersville senior basketball player Ethan Coady.
“Even though surrounding states are finishing up their winter sports seasons, Michigan’s winter sports teams have not been allowed to even begin practicing. Last Friday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the further delay of the start of winter practices until the end of February,” Fox 17 reported.
