Joe Biden briefly addressed the nation on Sunday regarding the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during a MAGA rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Biden said he’s spoken with Trump, was briefed by the Secret Service and FBI on the circumstances surrounding the assassination attempt, and will make further remarks on the incident later in the evening.
Biden also urged the American people not “make assumptions” about the shooter’s “motives or his affiliations.”
“We don’t yet have any information about the motive of the shooter. We know who he is. I urge everyone, everyone please, don’t make assumptions about his motives or his affiliations. Let the FBI do their job,” he said.
In the aftermath of the incident on Saturday, Biden held a brief press conference condemning the attempted hit on Trump as “not appropriate.”
