HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher came out swinging against the left’s protests against Supreme Court Justices outside their homes, calling them “wrong” and “against the law.”
“[C]ertainly, the Press [Secretary] at the White House is down with this. Jen Psaki said — asked about this, these are people who are demonstrating outside the houses of the Supreme Court justices, she said, ‘I don’t have an official U.S. government position on where people protest.’ But we do. It’s wrong. It’s intimidation. It’s against the law!” Maher said Friday.
“Look, it’s not terribly violent, obviously. But would you want this outside your house?” he asked his fellow panelists, author Ian Bremmer and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.).
Maher criticized both sides of the abortion debate, slamming the leaked draft decision to overturn Roe v Wade which he said would turn women seeking abortion into “criminals.”
“So when you drive from L.A. to Nevada, on one side of the border, you’re just a free person. The other side, you’re a criminal. You can fly across the country and gain and lose your reproductive rights 20 times. How can America sustain that?” he said.
Maher then slammed House Democrats for changing its language to include terms like “pro-abortion” instead of “pro-choice.”
“No one should be pro-abortion!” Maher said, noting that Democrats no longer care about the Clinton-era idiom of “safe, legal and rare.”
“I think that’s when Democrats were aligned with most Americans,” he said. “I think that’s what most Americans want, safe, legal, and rare. That’s not where the Democrats are now. They don’t say that anymore.”
