House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pledged to repeal the 87,000 new IRS agents that was included in the Democrats’ “Inflation Reduction Act” spending bill.

McCarthy made the announcement after unveiling the Commitment to America, the Republican agenda for Congress once they retake the majority, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania on Friday.

“On our first bill, we’re going to repeal 87,000 IRS agents,” McCarthy told the crowd, who burst into applause. “Our job is to work for you, not go after you.”

McCarthy also explained how Republicans will work toward reversing Joe Biden’s open border and energy-killing policies.

“We can secure our border. We can become energy independent, where your gas is lower,” he said. “We can build and education system that has a parents bill of rights, that you have a say in your kid’s education. We can be a check and balance and rein in this government that’s going after the individual.”

McCarthy reiterated the commitment to Fox News, flanked by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (La.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).

Democrats had granted the IRS $80 billion to hire roughly 87,000 IRS agents as part of its $700 billion climate change and healthcare billed deceptively named the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

The Congressional Budget Office concluded that the Democrat bill would result in the IRS taking $20 billion from U.S. taxpayers earning less than $400,00 per year through new audits, representing a broken promise by Joe Biden that he would not raise taxes for that bracket of Americans.
