Former First Lady Melania Trump said in a recent podcast that trusting the government is a “tricky” proposition.
Melania made the remarks Friday during the Some Future Day podcast after she was asked by host Marc Beckman to define trust.
“Trust, it’s [an] interesting word,” she said. “Because first you need to trust yourself… And then you see if you could trust other people. Trust is also shown, it’s like sometimes actions or words.”

Beckman then asked Melania about the idea of “trusting the government.”
“Trusting the government, that’s a little bit tricky,” Melania responded. “It’s very tricky. Because it’s so many people involved, that’s why. And so many rules. And in one way we need to…the government should not control us, right?”
“So, can you trust the government?” she added. “Not in everything. You need to be vigilant.”
This comes after Melania admitted her lack of trust in the Secret Service’s leadership to protect her husband in the wake of two failed assassination attempts against him.
“I think there is some holes, something is going on at the top level or it was when that shooting happened,” she said. “I know some people changed the positions but let’s hope that will never happen again.”
“It’s hard to say that you trust right, who you really trust. You want to but it’s always a question mark,” she added.
The former First Lady last month also condemned the FBI’s raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in 2022, calling it a “warning to all Americans” over how easily the government can violate basic rights.
