A suspected illegal alien who was apprehended outside a supermarket in Texas was discovered to be a member of a Mexican cartel, according to reports.
The incident unfolded in Laredo on October 29, but new details just came to light late last week.
Laredo Police Department (LPD) officers initially encountered Jesus Alexander Iracheta-Ramirez near an H-E-B grocery store.
LPD then requested assistance from U.S. Border Patrol (USBP),
The Laredo Morning Times reports that USBP agents determined Iracheta-Ramirez was a “migrant from Mexico,” indicating he was likely in the U.S. illegally.
USBP then discovered Iracheta-Ramirez is a member of Cartel Del Noreste (The Northeast Cartel), a powerful and highly-dangerous criminal network with operations in the U.S. and multiple Mexican states across the border from Laredo.
“Apprehending individuals like him is critical to keeping our communities safe,” USBP said in a statement.
Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S.
