A Chicago, Illinois, mother told ABC7 her family is looking to move to a new home after local police confiscated the gun she used to shoot an intruder breaking into her teenage daughter’s window.

The mother, who said she’s had a Concealed-Cary License for several years, shot a 36-year-old suspect in the leg as he reportedly refused to back away while hanging from the girl’s bedroom window.

“He was, like, hanging on her window. I just told him that, ‘I have a gun. I’m going to shoot.’ And he just didn’t stop. I fired a warning shot. I didn’t even know that he got hit,” the mother explained.

After learning the individual was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the leg, the woman’s daughter said, “Next time you think about coming through somebody’s window, you just remember how that bullet felt.”

The mother also issued a warning to potential criminals, saying, “Try not to be out here committing crimes, especially trying to come into somebody’s house, because you never know what’s on the other side of that window.”

Internet users are slamming the Chicago Police Department for confiscating the woman’s firearm.
