Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) called for FEMA Director Deanne Criswell’s resignation and promised she will face Congress over the agency’s incompetent response of the Hurricane Helene aftermath.
Greene promised that Criswell’s grilling before Congress would be “probably worse” than when former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was criticized over the agency’s failure to protect former President Donald Trump from an assassin’s bullet.
“FEMA Director Deanne Criswell will be coming before the Oversight Committee and will receive the full Kimberly Cheatle treatment. Probably worse,” Green wrote on X Friday. “FEMA is confiscating supplies, blocking help to Helene survivors, and using disaster relief funds to house illegals. Resign Deanne.”

FEMA has come under fire in the wake of numerous whistleblower complaints and testimonies from hundreds of civilians in Western North Carolina alleging gross mismanagement by the agency.
Whistleblowers told members of Congress this week that FEMA misappropriated funds and used them to house illegal migrants.

Hurricane victims and volunteers also claimed the agency not only failed to provide timely assistance, but are actively preventing fellow citizens in neighboring areas from providing food, water, fuel and other provisions.

Even Elon Musk revealed that SpaceX employees on the ground claimed FEMA blocked their attempts to provide Starlink terminals to affected areas.
“SpaceX engineers are trying to deliver Starlink terminals & supplies to devastated areas in North Carolina right now and @FEMA is both failing to help AND won’t let others help. This is unconscionable!!” Musk wrote on X Friday.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday lamented that “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season” for adequate relief efforts despite claiming several months ago that the agency was “tremendously prepared” for hurricane season.
Amid the public relations fallout, FEMA took to X to announce a “rumor control” initiative to push back against claims the agency was blocking relief efforts and using its funds to house migrants — which was outlined on its own website.
There has been a lot of rumors spreading about the #Helene response.

It appears Criswell is going to have a lot of explaining to do in front of Congress.
