New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared on MSNBC that the “voluntary phase is over” on administering COVID-19 injections for city workers.
When asked Tuesday by “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough if he will soon require all city workers to be jabbed, de Blasio suggested that he would and that the city’s entire workforce may be next.
“Yes, we are climbing a ladder. I’m not answering yes to your question yet,” he told Scarborough. “But if that’s not enough, I think we got to be ready to climb the ladder more. We’ve got to put pressure on this situation.”
DE BLASIO: “We’ve got to shake people at this point and say ‘c’mon now.’ We tried voluntary. We could not have been more kind and compassionate as a country…free testing, incentives, friendly warm embrace — the voluntary phase is over.”

“We’ve got to shake people at this point and say, ‘Come on now.’ We tried voluntary,” de Blasio continued. “We could not have been more kind and compassionate. Free testing, everywhere you turn, incentives, friendly, warm embrace. The voluntary phase is over.”
“We can keep doing those things. I’m not saying shut it down. I’m saying voluntary alone doesn’t work,” he added. “It’s time for mandates, because it’s the only way to protect our people.”
This comes a day after the NYC mayor declared that all of the city’s approximately 300,000 public health system workers must get the experimental jab or be subjected to weekly COVID testing and indoor masking.
“It means people who work in offices and people who work on the front line. Everyone,” he said.

Joe Biden is also expected to announce COVID injection mandates for all 2.1 million federal workers on Thursday, telling reporters Tuesday that “that’s under consideration right now, but if you’re not vaccinated you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were.”
