The Biden White House may not have “clean hands” when it comes to the second assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump in light of the alleged shooter’s past activities and government connections, according to former NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

“We know little so far, but w alleged Trump shooter’s personal and public participation in military activity in Ukraine, it is hard to imagine this White House’s agencies can claim zero contact—”clean hands.” Something of an Oswald vibe, here. Congress should get answers,” Snowden wrote on X Sunday.

The alleged shooter, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Routh, was reportedly a mercenary trying to recruit fighters to send to Ukraine frontline on behalf of the Ukrainian government.

Routh even reportedly went as far as recruiting Afhgan soldiers “who fled the Taliban” to fight for Ukraine, according to the New York Times, who wrote a glowing profile about his efforts in 2023.

Routh’s recruiting campaign also landed him an interview with Newsweek in 2022, where pleaded for more Americans to volunteer to fight for Ukraine.

His social media accounts, which were scrubbed by Facebook and X, revealed him to be a rabid anti-Trump Democrat who was deeply sympathetic to Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

FEC records indicate Routh was a registered Democrat who donated to many candidates, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Yang, and even former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii) in 2019 and 2020.

As Snowden noted, Routh likely had links to U.S. intelligence agencies under Joe Biden given his intimate ties to the Ukrainian government.

For example, the New York Time reported Routh in 2023 met with the Helsinki Commission, formally known as the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), an independent U.S. government agency established by Congress in 1975.

“There is no question that this guy had overlap with national security agencies,” Human Events editor and former Naval intelligence officer Jack Posobiec said Sunday.

Many on social media floated the possibility that the second assassination attempt could have been a government conspiracy given Routh’s Ukraine government and possible U.S. agency links, as well as the fact the shooter knew of Trump’s whereabouts despite them not being public.

This second assassination attempt comes just two months after shooter Thomas Crooks first made an attempt on Trump’s life during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
