Ottawa Police chief Peter Sloly will announce his resignation on Tuesday after reports emerged claiming the top law enforcement officer bullied senior police officials and compromised their negotiations with the trucker convoy protesters.
Sloly, who has a background deeply connected with the United Nations and Pfizer, has been highly criticized for his handling of the trucker demonstration.
According to CBC News, “Sloly belittled and berated senior Ottawa Police Service officers in front of their colleagues, and has failed to put forward a solid operations plan to end the crisis.”
Sloly’s feud with high-ranked police officers may have been started by his “short fuse” and alleged yelling.
Since the trucker convoy arrived in Ottawa, Sloly has replaced three incident response commanders.
One of the people who was reassigned said, “This will all come out in a review.”
The resignation also takes place just one day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked emergency powers to try and thwart the protests.
Take it from the trucker in the video below when we say that the emergency act won’t persuade the demonstrators to cave.
