The leader of the ultra-nationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, has been hospitalized in serious condition after reportedly receiving eight experimental Covid-19 jabs.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed Zhirinovsky had been admitted to Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, otherwise known as the Kremlin Clinic.

A spokesperson confirmed he’s in “serious condition” and said doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia, or fluid in the lungs, with “50 to 75% of his lungs affected.”

Meanwhile, online speculation swirls that he contracted Covid-19 – the very disease he was attempting to stave off.

Zhirinovsky, 75, made headlines back in September 2020 after he agreed to take part in clinical trials for Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine.

Since then, he went on to receive six more Covid-19 vaccines, switching to another shot called EpiVac midway through, and additionally received a flu shot.

More on Zhirinovsky’s string of vaccinations, as of November 2021, via The European Times:

As the politician admitted, the first three vaccinations he received were Sputnik V vaccines. He injected the third dose when antibodies began to decrease. Six months later, Zhirinovsky was vaccinated with two doses of another Russian vaccine against coronavirus – EpiVac. As soon as his number of antibodies decreased, Zhirinovsky made the third vaccination with EpiVac. The seventh vaccination is the flu shot, which Zhirinovsky said he gets every year.

Following his seventh Covid jab – this time of the Russian coronavirus vaccine CoviVac – Zhirinovsky reported “feeling good,” and urged other Russians to get vaccinated, saying, “I’ve already gotten the Sputnik V vaccine, and, this time, CoviVac from the Chumakov Center … in total, it’s my seventh shot since September 2020. And I haven’t been sick with coronavirus once, I feel good.

In a statement following his seventh dose, Zhirinovsky indicated he got vaccinated in order to protect his fellow citizens.

“Seven vaccinations! Of course, this is a burden, it’s hard, but we must protect each other,” he said, according to The European Times.

“He said that he gets vaccinated as soon as the level of his antibodies decreases,” reports Pravda.ru.

“He has since claimed to have had an eighth injection,” RT reports.

“I don’t get carried away. So I made eight injections and didn’t get sick, and if I had done four, then perhaps I would have been taken somewhere,” Zhirinovsky said, according to GlobalHappenings.com, which sources Russian-language Ukrainian tabloid newspaper Segodnya.

A virologist consulted by Pravda.ru cautioned people against following Zhirinovsky’s lead.

“According to virologist Sergei Netesov, so many vaccinations can be detrimental to Zhirinovsky’s health. It is not recommended to act like the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, the specialist said.”
