Joe Biden said he had cancer in 2022, in a supposed “gaffe” that has now taken on a much wider significance after the announcement of his official diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer.
A clip has resurfaced on social media of President Biden saying he had cancer because of pollution in his native Delaware.
In the short clip from 2022, President Biden says pollution in Delaware was the reason “why I and so damn many other people have cancer.”
At the time, the statement was dismissed as just another “gaffe,” but now many are suggesting it shows that Biden has had prostate cancer for some time, maybe even years, and that this was hidden from the nation along with his cognitive decline.
Internet users are also drawing attention to a statement made by President Biden’s brother, Frank, in July of 2024, when he finally dropped out of the presidential race.
Frank Biden said his brother’s decision to stand down was linked to his health, but didn’t specify exactly what was wrong with him. He went on to say that he looked forward to spending “whatever time we have left in our lives.”
A source close to the Biden family dismissed Frank’s claim and said he suffered from alcoholism.
The Associated Press reported Biden, 82, was diagnosed on Friday following urinary tract symptoms and that the cancer has spread to his bone, based on a statement from the ex-president’s office.
On a scale used to measure prostate cancer called the Gleason score, Biden’s rates a 9 out of 10, meaning his is one of the most aggressive forms, according to the office’s statement.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” the statement said.
“The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
