Nearly four years after the stolen 2020 election, Republicans may be taking election integrity more seriously, as Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley said more than 157,000 volunteers were registered for the GOP’s ‘Protect the Vote’ initiative, surpassing the initial goal of 100,000 registrants.
“The second component for election integrity is you got to be in the room,” he said during an interview on Fox with Maria Bartiromo. “…we were going to recruit over 100,000 volunteers into our national program, our protect the vote program, happy to say that we’ve already got 157,000 volunteers who’ve registered for that program.”
Notably, Whatley was not Chairman during the butchered 2020 fiasco, as Ronna Romney McDaniel, member of the establishment Romney family, presided over the position during the first Trump Presidency era. Axios described her record as an overall failure.
Whatley also discussed what he plans to do in the run-up to the election.
“We’re going to continue to push for the next 87 days to make sure that we have the biggest, most robust national election integrity program in the history of the country,” he said.
The RNC has launched a website that allows Americans interested in being part of the initiative to get more information and sign up. Training will be provided to volunteers.
“Secure elections are the cornerstone of American democracy. Your help is critical to ensure the election is fair and honest. Republican Poll Watchers and Workers are needed for Election Integrity Operations during the 2024 election season,” the protect the vote program website said. “Poll Watchers observe and report potential issues which may arise at polling locations and ballot tabulation centers. Poll Workers play an official role in administering the election at the precinct level.”
