Russian and American officials met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday to discuss a potential peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared no deal will be made that involves NATO forces entering Ukraine or the European nation becoming a NATO member.
Lavrov did however leave the door open for Ukraine to become a member of the European Union as it is an economic body.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on the meeting, saying, “Today is the first step of a long and difficult journey, but an important one.”
Lavrov appeared to agree, stating, “It was a very useful conversation. We listened to each other, and we heard each other.”
Infowars founder Alex Jones described the Russian stance as “a huge concession to the West,” explaining the Kremlin is essentially allowing the West to continue controlling Ukraine as long as it never joins NATO.
Jones also wrote, “The Biden regime was proud of the fact that for over three years, they never talked to the Russians, all while a war with a high potential to go nuclear raged. The peace talks between the United States and Russia happening now is another example of sanity re-entering the room.”
