Unsurprisingly, San Francisco will put into place a government vaccine mandate, meaning no one, including employees, will be able to enter bars, restaurants, gyms, or theatres without having taken the shot.

A negative COVID test or proof of natural immunity will not be an option.

As of August 20th (October 13th for employees), the only way to engage in a social life in the city will be to have been vaccinated.

A “COVID compliance team” will be activated to “reeducate” businesses, according to reports, but the enforcement will be down to business owners.

ABC 7 News reports:

Proof of vaccination will be required for patrons and employees in indoor settings that include bars, restaurants, clubs, theaters and entertainment venues, as well as indoor gyms and other fitness establishments. This does not include individuals ordering or picking up food or drink to go.

San Francisco’s order also creates a new proof of vaccination requirement for large events at indoor venues, requiring attendees who are age 12 or older at events with 1,000 people or more to provide proof of vaccination.

The health order also extends vaccination requirements to certain health care providers — including workers at adult day centers, residential care facilities, dental offices, home health aides and pharmacists, who are not included in the state health order on vaccinations.

One cafe owner commented, “We don’t want confrontation with anybody on their political views as far as vaccines go, I’m just here to feed people,” adding  “We have enough going on as it is now.”

Watch:

The announcement comes following The San Francisco Bar Owner Alliance announcing two weeks ago that anyone wanting to enter bars in the city will need to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative COVID test.

The government mandate goes even further and appears to replace that policy as it does away with the option of a negative test completely.

As we reported yesterday, Los Angeles has also announced a vaccine mandate for indoor spaces.

While the SF mandate outlines people must be fully vaccinated, the LA mandate states that one vaccination is enough.

New York has also implemented a vaccine mandate for indoor spaces.

In Texas, however, businesses have been put on notice that asking for proof of a Covid vaccination is illegal in the state.

Yesterday we noted that a recent poll found that a half of Americans believe vaccine mandates and COVID passports for “safety” are more important than “protecting freedom”.
