Secret Service agents tasked with protecting President Biden’s granddaughter opened fire after three people attempted to break into an unmarked agency vehicle in Washington, D.C., according to reports.

The incident occurred Sunday night in the Georgetown neighborhood and the agents were out with Hunter Biden’s daughter, Naomi.

The vehicle was unoccupied and the suspects are still at large, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi revealed in a statement.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The agents saw three people breaking a window of the parked and unoccupied Secret Service vehicle while out with Naomi Biden in the Georgetown neighborhood on Sunday night. One of the agents opened fire using a service weapon, and it is believed that no one was struck by gunfire, the Secret Service said in a statement.

Two to three people fled the scene in a red vehicle, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on Monday. The Secret Service has put out a regional bulletin to the Metropolitan Police Department to be on the lookout for the car.

The incident highlights how crime-ridden the nation’s capital is and critics online are already calling out how federal agents can fire a gun to ward off car thieves while other Americans, like the good samaritan who saved a woman being attacked by a homeless man in a NYC subway by firing warning shots, get punished for it.
