An 80-year-old man was shot dead in front of his wife in New York City as they arrived home from a Sweet 16 party over the weekend, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. on Sunday in the Bronx.
Marcelino Valerio and his wife had just been dropped off and were preparing to enter their home when a suspect “clad like a ninja” rode by on a bike.
Surveillance footage provided to the New York Post shows the masked suspect pass the couple on the sidewalk before doubling back and shooting Valerio in the head at point-blank range.
Valerio’s wife yelled for help as the killer fled the area.
NYPD officers arrived quickly and emergency responders tried to resuscitate Valerio but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“No problems ever arose with him. He was a marvelous person,” an acquaintance of Valerio said of the man.
No suspects had been identified or arrested as of Sunday night, and it appears the shooter is still on the loose.
