A driver was forced into a crash on a California freeway by armed thieves who then ransacked his smoking vehicle this week, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Footage and a witness description of what transpired were shared on social media via the Citizen public safety app.
At least four vehicles can be seen on the side of Interstate 10, including a damaged minivan and a destroyed sedan.
The apparent driver of the sedan squats with his hands above his head as a gang of masked, hooded suspects swarm the smashed car, reportedly searching for valuable items.
Citizen App cites a source explaining that “a group ran a man off the road and robbed him on the shoulder of the interstate. The video shows a car crashed into the shrubs on the shoulder of I-10. A group from the car that crashed into the victim runs up on the motorist, guns drawn, when a second car pulls up and more masked men hop out, also armed.”
A bystander, apparently not connected with the suspects, can be seen filming the heist from just feet away.
The suspects piled into a white sedan and sped away.
It is unclear what items were stolen or if authorities are investigating, according to Fox 11.
