Police body cam footage captured the moment an officer in Fairfax County, Virginia, had to use lethal force to stop a woman who violently attacked him with a knife, slashing his face and forehead.
Video released Monday shows Sept. 16 incident where Officer Peter Liu, a veteran of 14 years, conducted a welfare check on the apartment of Sydney Wilson, 33, who briefly greeted the cop before swiping at him with a large knife.
“Jesus Christ!” Officer Liu exclaimed as he stepped back.

Wilson continued to come at the officer as he attempted to retreat backwards, repeatedly telling her to “Back up” as he pointed his gun at her.
However, despite the orders, the 6’6″ Wilson continued her pursuit and slashed the officer as he fired a shot, then kept attacking with the knife while he tried to flee.
Footage showed the officer bleeding profusely after he stopped the threat and radioed for help.
According to an image on social media, Officer Liu was later found with a giant gash on his forehead.
“It could have been much, much, much worse,” described Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis. “The slash, gash and slash wound he received was at the top of his forehead.”
The chief added that in instances like these sending a mental health counselor, as is part of the department’s Co-Responder Program, could lead to them being injured.
“Clinicians absolutely expose themselves to an element of danger any time they get out of a police car and go up to a door or a scene of a crash or an outdoor scenario with a police officer, and there’s an element of risk associated with it,” Chief Davis stated.
Wilson was evidently a member of Georgetown University’s women’s basketball team, which issued several social media posts “mourning” her loss.

X.com’s Community Notes fact-check feature, added a note to their post, informing users, “Wilson was fatally shot after attempting to stab a police officer in Fairfax County, VA.”
Georgetown University was also criticized for mourning Wilson’s “tragic loss,” despite her documented violent attack on a peace officer.

Is this the quality of Georgetown graduates for the last couple decades? Given the state of our country and the alphabet soup agencies Georgetown grads helped run into the ground, I guess so.
It’s unclear whether the Black Lives Matter movement or other social justice groups will attempt to make Wilson their latest martyr, despite her vicious attack caught on camera.
