Federal immigration authorities have lodged a detainer against a foreign suspect arrested for stabbing a woman and three dogs to death in Georgia over the weekend, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon in Savannah.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence in the city where they found a gravely injured woman identified by the Chatham County Coroner’s Office as Rosalinda Garcia, 42, WJCL reports.
Garcia was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Later that day, police arrested 30-year-old Cristhian Moises Almendares-Perez.
Two dogs belonging to Garcia and one belonging to Almendares-Perez were also found dead at the residence, polie say.
Almendares-Perez was charged with murder and three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on the suspect, indicating he may be in the country illegally.
