A self-described Democrat called into C-SPAN on Wednesday to praise the two men who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump in the last two months.
Washington Journal C-Span broadcast host John McArdle welcomed “Willie from Louisiana” to the show, where the apparent veteran made the chilling threat.
“Good morning. I just want to say I’m a very patriotic American. I did 20 years in the military, two tours in Vietnam, wounded in 1966 and went back ’68,” the caller said. “I look at myself, and to see we let this man Trump destroy America,” Willie said.

“And I look at it and say well these two people had to step up and take that shot! I’m 83, nothing to lose,” he added.
McArdle, disturbed by the caller’s remarks, asked, “I’m sorry, Willie. You’re not advocating violence, are you?”
“Not violence. I’m talking about defending my country,” Willie responded, prompting McArdle to cut him off the air.
A poll by Scott Rasmussen’s RMG Research showed that over 25% of Democrat voters believed that the United States would have been better off if Trump had been murdered.
Democrats and the media have been criticized for their responses to the second attempt on Trump’s life, where they claimed the former president was to blame for the attack.
In the 72 hours after the second Trump assassination attempt, 95% of the corporate media’s coverage of the former president has been negative, according to MRC Research.
Trump himself lambasted the Democrats and media on Monday for fueling the inflammatory rhetoric that’s inspiring these unstable men to try to kill him.
“The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust,” Trump said in the post. “Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse!”
