Parents of Texas children attending public schools are working together to try and get rid of sexually graphic materials available in many school libraries.

Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath issued a letter to the state’s Republican Governor Greg Abbott on April 11, 2022.

The letter detailed a model policy suggesting which materials are inappropriate for Texas schools that would be sent to every school system in the state.

One mother was ignored by her children’s school district after asking them to adopt the policy several times.

The mother decided to have other parents help her compile a list of books found at schools in the district that fit the definition of “harmful material” as described by Texas Penal Code §43.24(a)(2).

To assist the parents, a list of inappropriate books which may be found in the libraries has been compiled and can be viewed here.

She’s asking those who wish to help to add any examples of obscene content they may find to an online database of book images found in district libraries.
