A Texas soldier on patrol along the Rio Grande was injured this week in an attack by two illegal aliens, one of whom was released “due to traveling with minors,” authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday in El Paso.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) was alerted about an assault that had taken place near the river in the vicinity of Gate 36 of the border barrier.
A trooper arrived on the scene and found a Texas National Guard soldier suffering from a leg wound.
“The soldier advised that while standing near the concertina wire, a female migrant rushed up to him and grabbed him by the neck, attempting to push him down,” TxDPS explained in a press release.
“Then a male migrant grabbed the soldier’s left leg causing him to fall into the concertina wire.”
The suspects were identified as 38-year-old Karla Dividay Matar Jaimes and Yoel Jesus Guerra Urdaneta, 33.
Both are illegal aliens from Venezuela, authorities say, but Matar was “charged at large” because she was “traveling with minors.”
John Fabbricatore, a retired ICE Field Office Director, expressed shock that the female suspect had apparently been released into the U.S. following the assault.
“How was she charged at large!!!! She should have been detained in a Family facility with the children. There are soft sided facilities for adults with minors,” Fabbricatore wrote on X.
“She assaulted a soldier. If a citizen had done that the children would have been put in state custody and she would be in jail! This is a two tiered Justice system in which illegal aliens are benefiting!”
InfoWars frequently documents attacks on border agents and law enforcement officers by illegal migrants and smugglers.
More than 541 assaults against CBP personnel were recorded through the first 11 months of Fiscal Year 2023.
