The media and Democrats are claiming a 2020-like scenario could again unfold Tuesday where late night election results could show Donald Trump ahead, only for his Democrat opponent to receive a mass trove of votes overnight.
On Election Night in 2020, Trump voters watched as polls closed showing the Republican nominee boasting a commanding lead; however, several precincts in swing states received extensive late-night mail-in ballot drops courtesy of the Covid pandemic.
The mail-in votes were overwhelmingly for Democrat opponent Joe Biden, and instead of Trump winning on Election Day, the results were delayed until Saturday when multiple media outlets suddenly declared Biden the winner.
Now, a Democrat official in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin is claiming the same “red mirage” to “blue shift” situation could happen again.
“In 2020, it was like 3 or 4 in the morning, and that means we should expect a red shift where it seems like Trump is doing better than he is in fact, doing, and then, excuse me — a red mirage — and then a blue shift once those absentee ballot counts come in the middle of the night. Don’t be fooled,” Wisconsin Democrat Party Chair Ben Wikler told CNN on Tuesday.

Here we go again.
BEN WIKLER: "We know that because Republicans blocked legislation that would have allowed the early processing of mail in ballots, we know that… pic.twitter.com/Oi3KoyfOhM
He went on to assure Democrat voters that a Trump win might seem all but inevitable, but that mail-in votes will almost certainly change that.
“And don’t be alarmed if it seems like Trump is overperforming what you’d expect when you get to midnight, because there’s still about 100,000 ballots, kind of big cache of ballots that have yet to be reported in Milwaukee. Because people know that that’s coming. My sense is that they’re fairly calm about it. We can expect all kinds of shenanigans and bogus claims from Republicans.”
Winkler’s optimism for a “blue shift” comes as leftist media outlets like CNN and Axios have also been promoting the “red wave-blue shift” notion, with Axios claiming it’s all but certain.
“Don’t let the early results on Election Night fool you,” Axios wrote Tuesday. “Delayed absentee ballot counts in key swing states could tilt how the presidential race ultimately shakes out.”
Likewise, CNN promoted the “red mirage-blue shift” narrative this week, claiming despite being a “recent phenomenon” it looks like 2024 will play out the same as 2020, because “close elections can take time to figure out.”
“In the same way that no one knows who will win the 2024 election, it’s also not entirely clear how long determining the winner this year will take,” the fake news outlet predicted.
The red mirage narrative comes as former President Barack Obama declared on Tuesday “it’s very likely” the US won’t know the winner on Election Night.
“It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either,” Obama wrote.
In America, election results have typically been known on Election Day until 2020, when universal mail-in ballots were introduced due to COVID.
However, Democrats and the media are now attempting to make this exceptional delay a standard aspect of U.S. elections.
The election results being delayed for several days definitely raises serious concerns about confidence in the electoral process, and fuel suspicions of election meddling by Democrats.
