TIME Magazine humiliated itself on Monday after claiming the suspected Trump shooter Ryan Routh had an “unclear political ideology” despite the overwhelming evidence he was an anti-Trump Democrat.
Routh’s now-scrubbed social media accounts documented his hatred for Donald Trump and support for the Ukraine war, he’s registered as a Democrat and donated to at least 19 Democrat lawmakers and ActBlue according to FEC records, and even his truck displayed a “Biden-Harris” sticker.
But those inconvenient details didn’t stop TIME from weaving its own false narrative.
“The suspect arrested in relation to the shooting at Trump’s golf course in Florida on Sunday has been identified as Ryan Routh—a 58-year-old with unclear political ideology, a criminal record, and a history of praising Iran and supporting Ukraine,” TIME captioned for its article about the suspected shooter on X.

TIME went on to explain in its article that Routh was “a Democrat with a mixed profile,” citing his purported support for Trump in 2016, donation to Tulsi Gabbard in 2019 and 2020 — when she was still a Democrat — and his support for Iran.
Needless to say, TIME’s dishonest assertion that Routh had an “unclear” political ideology was roundly mocked on X.

But y’all say his political ideology was unclear 🤣

Nice ratio cheap state media rag. Routh was a registered Democrat, pro Ukraine, pro Palestine, hated Trump and praised Biden. Oh and he donated to Biden and Democrats. pic.twitter.com/PhbeWXeccG

But don't let that get in the way of your narrative.
In other words a generic Democrat

What are the odds of two consecutive attempted Trump assassins not having clear political ideologies?
— Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) September 16, 2024
Answer: zero https://t.co/Nn2LzObgjE
The media at large was also raked over the coals for pushing headlines downplaying the second assassination attempt against Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, calling it a “golf club incident,” “golf course episode,” “gunfight near golf club,” and “shots fired at Florida course.”
