Top FBI Official Forced Out After Criticizing Trump Targeting Agents Who Investigated Jan. 6

James Dennehy, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's New York Field Office, was also accused of stonewalling the bureau's release of Epstein documents to the U.S. Attorney General's office.

The head of the FBI New York field office was forced to resign on Monday, a month after he urged his employees to “dig in” after the Trump administration purged senior FBI leaders and requested names of all agents who worked on the January 6 cases, according to reports.

James Dennehy, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s New York Field Office, was given the choice to resign or be fired. He decided to retire since he was eligible for retirement.

Dennehy made headlines last month when he wrote an email to his staff after the Trump Justice Department demanded a list of employees who had worked criminal cases against the hundreds of Trump supporters involved in the January 6 Capitol riot.

“Today, we find ourselves in the middle of a battle of our own as good people are being walked out of the FBI,” Dennehy wrote. “And others are being targeted because they did their jobs in accordance with the law and FBI policy.”

Time for me to dig in,” Dennehy added.

Dennehy came under further scrutiny last week after Attorney General Pam Bondi released “Phase 1” of the files related to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which contained mostly public information about Epstein’s flight logs and address book.

Bondi then accused the FBI New York office of withholding “thousands of pages” of Epstein documents in a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel.

Before you came into office, I requested the full and complete files related to Jeffrey Epstein. In response to this request, I received approximately 200 pages of documents, which consisted primarily of flight logs, Epstein’s list of contacts, and a list of victims’ names and phone numbers. I repeatedly questioned whether this was the full set of documents responsive to my request and was repeatedly assured by the FBI that we had received the full set of documents.

The coverup allegations led users on social media to blame “Trump hater” Dennehy for the alleged block.

FBI whistleblower Garret O’Boyle told Alex Jones last week that the botched Epstein release was indeed part of an FBI coverup and warned that the bureau was still working to destroy incriminating documents.

Bondi said over the weekend that although she can’t definitively conclude the withholding of documents was part of a coverup, she said it was “very interesting that they withheld that from us. I will find out who withheld it, and they will not be working for us anymore.”

It remains to be seen if the Attorney General’s office will go a step further and pursue obstruction of justice charges for any FBI agents involved in the stonewalling of Epstein files.
