A ragtag team of monkeys thwarted a pedophile from raping a 6-year-old girl, in an absolutely bananas tale of hero primates out of India.
The Times of India reports the incident unfolded last Saturday in Meerut:
The girl’s parents claimed that a man had lured their child to an abandoned house on Saturday, where he took off her clothes and was attempting to sexually assault her, when a few monkeys aggressively rushed towards him, forcing him to leave the minor and flee.
After escaping, the upset girl ran home and told her parents about how the troop of simians had rescued her.
The girl’s grateful father credited the primates with his daughter’s safety, saying, “My daughter was playing outside when the accused took her away. The man could be seen in nearby CCTV footage, walking on a narrow lane with my daughter. He is yet to be identified though.”
“He also threatened my child that he would kill me,” the distressed father reportedly stated. “My daughter would have been dead by now if the monkeys had not intervened.”
A police officer told Times of India they’d “heard about the incident involving monkeys and are investigating the matter,” noting once caught they’ll charge the man with several crimes, including violation of the country’s POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act.

The incident spotlights a broader problem India faces with high rape rates and the low prosecution of offenders.
