Donald Trump issued a video message on Thursday, calling drug cartels terrorist groups “waging war on America” and promising to take them down.
The 45th President opened his speech by acknowledging the deadly drug crisis in the U.S. as heroin, fentanyl and meth are ripping apart families and communities.
“Our country is being poisoned from within by the drugs and by all the other crime that’s taking place. The drug cartels are waging war on America and it is now time for America to wage war on cartels,” he boldly stated.
He then accused Joe Biden of siding with the cartels and called Democrat open border policies “a deadly betrayal of our nation.”
“When I am president it will be the policy of the United States to take down the cartels, just as we took down ISIS and the ISIS caliphate,” Trump said. “Unlike the situation where we are today, we had a very, very strong border — the strongest border, in fact, in the history of our country — and drugs were at a low of 45 years. There’s been nothing like what we did just two years ago. We will show no mercy on the cartels.”
Trump explained he’d deploy the U.S. Navy to ensure the waters of the Western Hemisphere are not used for drug trafficking and use the DOD to conduct operations against “Cartel leadership, infrastructure and operations.”
“We have to take over, we have to be tough, we have to be smart, we have to be fair,” he concluded, “but if we don’t do something immediately, our country is gone.”
Trump’s strong statement comes as Joe Biden announced a pathetic attempt at slowing illegal immigration by releasing a phone app illegals can use to apply for asylum.
The House Homeland GOP Twitter account responded to Biden’s announcement by noting illegal immigrants can only claim asylum at a physical port of entry.
Biden is allegedly set to visit the Southern Border soon.
