President-elect Donald Trump issued a scathing message on Tuesday, criticizing Joe Biden for saving 37 American criminals who were sitting on death row from being euthanized for their offenses.
“Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our Country. When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this. Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!” he wrote.
Biden had bragged on Monday that the individuals sitting on death row will now be serving “life sentences without the possibility of parole.”
Trump was right when he told Americans they’d be disgusted to learn about the crimes committed by some of the prisoners.
For example, one of the men was convicted of raping two little girls and stabbing them to death and another was jailed for the rape and murder of a young mother and her baby.
Families of victims who were killed by death row inmates have spoken out against the Biden decision, specifically noting the timing was poor considering it’s the holiday season.
“We thought the timing was despicable,” said Tim Timmerman, whose 19-year-old daughter Rachel was killed in 1997 by a man now allowed to live the rest of his life in jail.
Meanwhile, Democrats like Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (Mass.) are praising Biden for allowing violent killers to live.
