Former President Donald Trump showed solidarity with victims of the devastating wildfires in Lahaina, Hawaii, taking the opportunity to bash his Democrat opponent Joe Biden’s weak response to the crisis.
In a statement Monday, Trump slammed the federal government for its lack of preparedness, and likewise the state government’s abysmal response to the unfolding crisis that has left nearly 100 dead and close to 1,000 missing.
“The sad thing is it should never have happened our government was not prepared, and very importantly the aftermath is going very poorly with the governor of the island wanting to do nothing but blame it on global warming and other things that just happen to pop into his head,” Trump said.
The current GOP frontrunner went on to call out his successor Joe Biden’s recent refusal to answer questions about the crisis.
When asked by a reporter Monday if he had anything to say regarding the deadliest natural disaster in Hawaii’s history, Biden replied with a smirk, “No comment.”
“When asked about it today as he was getting into a car, perhaps coming home from the beach where he has been spending a great deal of time Crooked Joe Biden, the most incompetent president in the history of our country, with a laugh and a smile said he had no comment on the death and the tragedy.
“To say, ‘No comment,’ is oftentimes fine, but to be smiling when you say it especially against such a tragedy as this is absolutely horrible and unacceptable. It is a disgraceful thing that Joe Biden refuses to help or comment on the tragedy in Maui, just as he refused to help or comment on the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, for a very long time.”
The president went on to offer words of comfort to family members of the victims saying, “To the families affected I give you my love and sympathy. Nothing can ever replace your loved one, but you will always have their memories and will feel their great love surrounding and embracing you.”
Once again, Trump’s swift and effective response to a deeply serious crisis stands in stark contrast to Biden’s lack of response, proving exactly why Trump is the people’s champion.
