President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday his incoming administration will be “acting very quickly” to issue pardons for the January 6 political prisoners and called for the House Jan. 6 committee members to be jailed.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker, Trump said he’s looking to issue pardon for many of the J6 prisoners on his first day in office.
“I’m going to look at everything. We’re going to look at individual cases,” Trump said.

“Everyone?” Welker asked.
“Yeah,” Trump replied. “But I’m going to be acting very quickly.”
Welker asked, “Within your first 100 days? Your first day?”
Trump responded, “First day. I’m looking first day.”
“First day to issue these pardons?” Welker clarified.
“These people have been there, how long is it, three or four years,” Trump said. “By the way, they’ve been in there for years. And they’re in a filthy, disgusting place that shouldn’t even be allowed to be open.”
The majority of the J6 prisoners are being held at the Washington, D.C. Central Treatment Facility (CTF), where many have reportedly been languishing in inhumane prison conditions.
The conditions are apparently so bad that at least 34 prisoners even signed a letter in 2022 pleading to be transferred to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Some of the J6 political prisoners, including Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, and veteran and former Infowars reporter Joe Biggs are currently serving 15 to 22-year prison sentences.
Trump’s talk of pardons for J6 prisoners has come more into focus after Joe Biden issued a blanket pardon for his son Hunter last week absolving him of any federal crime he may have committed dating all the way back to January 2014.
Trump also said the Democrat-led House January 6 Committee members like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wis.) should “go to jail” for covering up and destroying evidence to advance their narrative that he led an insurrection on January 6, 2021.
