According to The New York Times on Thursday, officials from the U.S. and NATO suggested that President Joe Biden could theoretically give Ukraine nuclear weapons.
“Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union,” The New York Times said Thursday.

The hypothetical gifting of nuclear weapons to Ukraine was called an ‘instant and enormous deterrent’ by The New York Times.
Tensions in the region have dramatically increased over the last week as the U.S. approved the use of long-range missiles for strikes deep within Russia followed by Russia updating it’s nuclear doctrine to allow nuclear retaliation against such non-nuclear attacks. The U.K. and France approved of Ukraine using their long-range missiles to strike deep within Russia and Russia has struck Ukraine back with their advanced missile system.
The discussion of nuclear gifts comes at a time when continued and seemingly endless funding for war in the region by the U.S. is in jeopardy from an incoming Donald Trump administration which seeks peace.
In October, Ukrainian ruler Vladimir Zelensky presented his ‘victory plan‘ which included continued war against Russia as well as three classified points. Soon after, it was reported that Ukraine may ‘attain’ nuclear weapons, followed by Zelensky publicly calling to have nuclear weapons, then denying it.
