On Tuesday President Donald Trump said that he is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine, a war which Trump contends would have never begun had he been in office. On Wednesday Trump went on to issue some veiled financial threats to Putin, a move likely connected to a bargaining strategy he anticipates using during deliberations, as well as, perhaps, for public relations sake, following the Russian collusion hoax.
The ‘threats’ Trump made were not militaristic in nature, and were certainly not nuclear. They were purely economic and came after Trump thanked Russia for their help in the Second World War.
“If we don’t make a ‘deal,’ and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries. Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way,” Trump said on Truth Social.
The week before he assumed office, Trump stated that the meeting will go through.
“He [Putin] wants to meet, and we are setting it up,” Trump said Thursday.

Trump has been planning on this meeting to take place very quickly after he assumes office.
