An eight-year-old girl in Tampa Bay defiantly told her school board that they should go to jail for forcing her and other kids to wear masks against their will, after they suspended her close to forty times for disobeying the orders.
Fiona Lashells was filmed reading a speech in front of the board in Florida, pointing out how masks don’t prevent the spread of viruses effectively because they become dirty and prompt people to constantly touch their faces.
“Just because I get suspended for not wearing a mask isn’t going to change my mind. You can keep suspending me, I still have the right not to wear a mask,” the young girl declared.
“It is not fair that I am getting punished because you guys, the school board are not following the law,” the second grader continued, adding “I’m still going to stand up for what I believe in.”
“I hope you all go to jail for doing this to me,” Fiona urged, adding that her family is proud of her and finishing with “your rules suck.”
Watch:
As noted by Fox 8 News last week, the school has repeatedly suspended Fiona for not wearing the mask in classes, and finally told her parents that she is going to fail because she has missed so much school.
Bailey Lashell, the mother of Fiona told the channel “I was really shocked by it,” adding “I couldn’t believe it was all over not complying with the mask mandate.”
In a further interview with The Tampa Free Press, Mrs Lashell urged that Fiona is now “on a mission to take back, not only her rights but every American child’s constitutional rights from the tyrant school board.”
“Fiona is a strong-minded and fearless young girl who was ready to conquer the world at 7,” her mother emphasised, adding “Unfortunately, the blows just seem to not stop as she was recently told after completing every assignment her teacher will provide that she is not only failing 2nd grade but that there is no way she could catch up, per her teacher.”
Face masks have been optional in Florida since July, however some local school districts are still enforcing mask mandates.
At the time, Governor DeSantis said, “The federal government has no right to tell parents that in order for their kids to attend school in person, they must be forced to wear a mask all day, every day,” adding “Many Florida schoolchildren have suffered under forced masking policies, and it is prudent to protect the ability of parents to make decisions regarding the wearing of masks by their children.”
