Biden administration Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on Tuesday declared “gun violence” a public health crisis, furthering Democrats’ war on gun rights.
“Today, for the first time in the history of our office, I’m issuing a surgeon general advisory on firearm violence,” Murthy declared in a video, accompanied by a 40-page pamphlet on why Americans should let the government infringe on the Second Amendment.

“It is up to us to take on this generational challenge with the urgency and clarity the moment demands,” Murthy added. “The safety and wellbeing of our children and future generations are at stake.”
Some “firearm risk reduction prevention strategies” recommended by the surgeon general include several familiar “common sense” liberal Democrat contentions with current gun laws, including a call for universal background checks and banning “assault weapons” and “large-capacity” magazines for civilian use.
The Surgeon General’s advisory then claims gun control are in the Health and Human Services’ wheelhouse because of the emotional and mental impacts “firearm violence” has on society.
The advisory also calls for “increased funding and growing the evidence base” for their anti-gun movement, presumably so more Americans can be propagandized and indoctrinated into hating or fearing the Second Amendment.
Overall, the surgeon general’s declaration appears to be a new way for Democrats to continue their years-long attack on the Second Amendment, with renewed funding allotted for their anti-gun initiatives to stop the “public health crisis.”
If the Biden administration really cared about public health, they’d stop criminals and drugs pouring through the open borders, instead of restricting Americans’ gun rights.
