Chris Cuomo has evidently had a change of heart when it comes to former President Donald Trump since leaving CNN.
Discussing how he reached out to the Trump campaign following a second failed assassination attempt this past Sunday at the former president’s golf resort in West Palm Beach, Florida, Cuomo said he apologized Trump’s being targeted in such a manner.

“I wanted to just say, ‘Listen, I’m really sorry that this is going on and it’s being dealt with this way,'” Cuomo said during his NewsNation program Monday, recalling what he told Trump.
“Not because I’m in favor of his politics or what he says – I criticize him all the time. That’s my job, and he deserves it – but he doesn’t deserve this,” Cuomo clarified, adding, “A guy pointing an AK-47 at him, while he’s playing golf.”
The former primetime anchor went on to say he would not react the same way as Trump if he’d personally been targeted by assassins.
“If I had been through what that guy’s been through in the last two months, you would not know where I am. You would never see me on TV again. No way I would do that,” he said, adding, “I don’t know how he does it.”
Cuomo went on to highlight how the media has mocked Trump’s wife, Melania, for speculating about a plot to assassinate her husband.
“How could she not? People mock her? And then her husband has a guy pointed with an AK-47. Where are those people apologizing?” Cuomo asked. “That’s what it’s time for.”
Cuomo concluded the segment by trying to get through to callous liberals who expressed no sympathy for Trump’s brushes with death, saying, “You’ve got to care when somebody tries to kill somebody.”
“Either you care when anyone is hurt or you’ll never really care about anyone.”
The former Fake News media reporter’s sudden feelings of remorse for Trump turned heads, with Republican political consultant Roger Stone commenting, “Hell is freezing over.”
