A Senate Democrat attempting to block Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s Health and Human Services Secretary appointment falsely claimed the Trump nominee helped cause disease outbreaks, while dismissing concerns about anti-depressants’ role in mass shootings and gender-bending chemicals in water.
On Wednesday Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz (D), offering no evidence to back his claims, attempted to smear Trump’s Cabinet pick as a fringe conspiracy theorist whose expertise in health was questionable.
Watch (comments appear around 1:00):
“It is not often that the stakes of a vote to confirm a Cabinet nominee are this high. But tomorrow when we vote on the nomination of RFK Jr., to be the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the stakes will be life and death,” Schatz claimed. “Mr. Kennedy, in his words, but more importantly, in his actions, has proven over and over again that he is a unique danger to society.”
“But he’s on the edge of becoming the country’s top health leader with the power to unleash bygone diseases and undermine trust in science for years to come,” the senator said.
“For the first time ever we will have a health sec who has actively helped to cause outbreaks instead of to contain them. We’ll have someone in charge of medical research whose taken every opportunity to undermine science, instead of promoting it.”
“We’ll have someone who’s never come across a crazy idea he didn’t like,” Schatz continued, “whether it’s that anti-depressants are the cause of mass shootings or chemicals in the water are turning children gay.”
Schatz’s claims RFK spread disease stem from his support for alternative treatments, opposition to the COVID-19 vaccine, and skepticism of the medical industrial-complex.
Regarding the claim SSRI anti-depressants could cause mass shootings, RFK addressed the issue during a previous Senate Finance Committee confirmation hearing, telling Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) “I don’t think anybody can answer that question, and I didn’t answer that question. I said it should be studied along with other potential culprits like social media…”
Sen. Smith shot back, “The science shows that there is no link between school shootings and antidepressants, and in fact most school shooters were not even treated with antidepressants. And, of those that were, there was no evidence of association.”
“I don’t think you can say that Senator, because with HIPAA rules nobody knows,” RFK answered, referring to the fact that health privacy laws prevent the public from learning what medications school shooting suspects were prescribed.
As for Schatz’s claims chemicals in water aren’t affecting gender, RFK has cited the work of UC Berkeley professor of integrative biology Tyrone Hayes, who recently demonstrated how the chemical affects amphibian sexuality.
“He put 70 African water frogs in an aquarium. He put atrazine in a quarter of that aquarium – that was less than EPA’s level. So it’s less than the levels we have in 63% of our water supply… 60 of those frogs became sterile,” RFK said in a recent interview with Jordan Peterson, adding, “They’re all male frogs.”

Question for everyone…
When you look at how feminine young men have become today compared to the last generation, is it plausible to say that this chemical has a lot to do with that?

“60 became sterile. 10 percent of those frogs turned female. And they were able to produce fertile eggs. So it changed their sex.”
Despite Schatz’s and other Dems’ protests, RFK passed the Senate cloture vote 53-47 clearing the way for his final confirmation vote.
Schatz’s pathetic display proves Democrats are still refusing to come to grips with their massive election defeat, flailing desperately to derail Trump’s picks as MAGA proceeds full steam ahead.
